Signed into law by the Governor in May 2017, the Tennessee Reconnect Act (HB.0531) establishes a last-dollar scholarship for adults to attend community college tuition free. Students must be deemed independent, must be Tennessee residents for at least one year before grant application, must not already have an associate's or bachelor's degree, and be admitted to an eligible institution. Beginning in fall 2018-19, the Tennessee Reconnect grant will be funded through the state Lottery for Education fund.
