The Excelsior Scholarship was established in 2017 for New York state residents. It provides free tuition to all SUNY and CUNY two-year and four-year programs on a last dollar basis. For 2017-18, students are eligible with family incomes of $100,000 or less; the income cap will rise to $110,000 in 2018-19, and $125,000 in 2019-20 and beyond. Students must also plan to live and work in New York following graduation for the length of time they receive the scholarship.
