Detroit Promise
The Detroit Promise was first instituted in 2011 and updated in 2016 for students who reside in Detroit and attended at least two years. The award provides full tuition and fees on a last dollar basis to Henry Ford, Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, or Schoolcraft Community Colleges. The program is administered by the Detroit Regional Chamber and Detroit Promise Zone Authority as well as the Michigan Education Excellence Foundation. UPDATE (2016): Detroit Promise extended to include 4-year opportunities at a number of Michigan universities for students who attend Detroit high schools for 9th to 12th grade. Students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA and at least a minimum ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1060. The 4-year scholarships were added in fall 2016 and will continue at least through fall 2017.
