Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar
Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar was created in 1996 to support for select 10th grade high school students in Albany and Troy by providing mentorship, financial support, and academic preparation programs. In 2000, the Program expanded to include High School students in Schenectady. High School sophomores apply to recieve various support programs and a $10,000 stipend that may be used for various college expenses. To be accepted, students must show academic promise, demonstrate financial need, and a drive to pursue studies in higher education. This is a first dollar award that is funded by foundations and private donors and corporations.
