AERA Releases “Ed-Talk” Videos and Fact Sheets on Important Issues in Education

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) has released 31 "Ed-Talk" videos that focus on important issues in K-12 and higher education such as education equity, the use of research in policy-making, student learning, and opportunities for disadvantage students. Accompanied by research fact sheets, these 6-minute talks headlined the AERA Knowledge Forum as part of the association’s Centennial year programming.

Penn AHEAD Executive Director Dr. Laura Perna focused her talk on improving college access and success for students from historically underrepresented groups. The full video can be found here and the accompanying research fact sheet can be downloaded here.

“The AERA Knowledge Forum was driven by the aspiration to make visible and accessible high-quality education research that is relevant, powerful, and useful for addressing challenging issues facing practitioners, policymakers, and the public,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “By broadly making public the Ed-Talk videos and fact sheets, we are not only sharing a critically important research base, but also helping to expand the public’s knowledge and inform the environment in which decisions are made about policy and practice.”

Dr. Vivian Gadsden, Dr. Howard Stevenson, and Dr. Richard Ingersoll from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education also participated in the Ed Talks and their videos and research fact sheets can be found here.
